The three main islands in New Zealand all have spectacular scenery.  Stewart Island is south of the South Island and although cold is extremely beautiful with abundant bird life. The South Island is formed from glaciation and therefore has some amazing mountains, lakes, rivers and gorges. The North Island is volcanic so there is a large variation between the two main islands.
